Lavender and bergamot lead Hunter by Maison Asrar, which the brand labels Fougere and Ambery, while a sweet base of caramel, tonka and vanilla sets it apart from a purely herbal fougere.
Notes as Maison Asrar lists them on its website, read on 24 October 2026.
How does Maison Asrar Hunter smell?
Several bright things are stacked into the top at once: bergamot and lemon for sharp citrus, pineapple for a juicy, slightly tart fruitiness, lavender for the clean aromatic backbone of a fougere, and elemi, a fresh, lemony resin with a little bite. Cedarwood, geranium, lily of the valley and patchouli make up the heart, giving dry wood, a green leafy lift, a soft floral freshness and an earthy depth.
Underneath, caramel, tonka and vanilla form a sweet, almost bakery-like base, with musk keeping it smooth. This is what makes the Ambery label make sense: a fresh, herbal front half set against a warm, sugary finish. A contrast is the likely outcome, with lavender and citrus up front and a soft toffee-and-vanilla sweetness behind, rather than the dry, bitter base many fougeres have.

What Maison Asrar's own page says about Hunter
Maison Asrar's product page for Hunter gives its family as fougere and ambery.
It also puts words of its own on three of the notes: vanilla (sweet, warm, soft), cedarwood (woody, clean, warm) and lavender (fresh, aromatic, soft).
The note list on FragranceGems' own product page names nothing that this list lacks.
Who might like Maison Asrar Hunter?
Hunter is for someone who likes the clean, herbal snap of lavender and citrus but wants it softened with sweetness at the bottom. Fougere and ambery lines elsewhere in the Maison Asrar range, particularly those that pair aromatic tops with tonka or vanilla, are the natural lists to read alongside it.
Hunter and the rest of the Maison Asrar range
Maison Asrar Ameer overlaps in bergamot, cedarwood, lily of the valley, patchouli, musk and vanilla. Its own notes are cardamom, pink pepper, saffron and pink grapefruit, against elemi, lavender, lemon and pineapple here.
Maison Asrar III Thriller shares bergamot, elemi, lemon, musk, tonka and vanilla with Hunter. Where Hunter has lavender, pineapple, cedarwood and geranium, it lists cardamom, saffron, pepper and clary sage.
The link with Maison Asrar Belgravia is bergamot, lemon, cedarwood, lily of the valley, caramel and musk. Hunter sets elemi, lavender, pineapple and geranium beside that, the other one blackcurrant, freesia, sandalwood and vetiver.
