How does Maison Asrar Vanguard smell?
The front is a bright fruit salad sharpened with citrus: apple and pineapple are juicy and sweet, bergamot and grapefruit add a tart edge, and pink pepper a dry, crackling spice. The heart brings carnation, a floral with a spicy, peppery character, together with ginger and cardamom, so the flower sits inside warm spice instead of standing apart from it. Five top notes make the opening busy.
Leather, ambergris and Woods form the base. Woods is a collective term for an unspecified blend of timbers that adds dry structure, leather brings tanned smokiness, and ambergris adds salty smoothness. Chypre leather suggests a citrus top over a dry, earthy base with leather as the main character. On paper: sharp fruit and spice over a dry leather-and-wood foundation, with little sweetness beyond the fruit.
