What oud is

Oud comes from agarwood, the dark, resin-infused heartwood that forms in infected Aquilaria trees, and smells woody, smoky, animalic and slightly sweet. Because natural agarwood is rare, many perfumes use a synthetic or blended oud accord. It sits in the base with rose, saffron, amber, patchouli and incense, adding a dark, resinous woodiness.
