How does Maison Asrar Petra smell?
A bright but not simple start: bergamot, blackcurrant and pink pepper (Pinkpepper in the list) bring citrus sparkle, a tart purple-berry tang and a light peppery crackle that stops the fruit tasting jammy. The heart begins with Aromatic, a catch-all term that usually points to herbal freshness without naming a plant, and then moves to leather, which is dry, tanned and slightly smoky, and patchouli, which is earthy and leafy.
The base is where it darkens. Ambery is a warm, resinous, faintly sweet glow, Insense is incense, a dry smoke, and labdanum is a sticky, dark resin with a leathery side. On paper, then, this is sharp and fruity at the front and dark, resinous and smoky underneath, with very little sweetness beyond the berry note and the resin itself. The hesperidic label describes the front and the ambery one the base.
