How does Maison Asrar Wadi smell?
Pineapple and coconut make a tropical, juicy-creamy opening, unusual ahead of a fougère. Pineapple is sharp, sweet and slightly sour, and coconut smooths it. The heart then supplies the fougère structure with clary sage and lavender: clary sage is herbal, slightly sweet and faintly earthy, and lavender is the classic clean, aromatic, softly floral herb. They tie the tropical start to a traditional aromatic core.
Creamy, soft sweetness comes from tonka and vanilla, with patchouli adding an earthy depth. No musk is itemised, so the musky part of the family label presumably describes the soft, clean, skin-like feel of the vanilla-and-tonka finish. On paper the structure is fruit and coconut first, aromatic herbs in the middle, and a sweet, earthy base, a classic fougère shape with an unexpectedly tropical front.
What Maison Asrar's own page says about Wadi
Maison Asrar's product page for Wadi gives its family as fougère musky.
It also puts words of its own on three of the notes: lavender (fresh, aromatic, soft), pineapple (fruity, bright, fresh) and coconut (creamy, exotic, soft).
Who might like Maison Asrar Wadi?
Anyone who likes lavender and herbs but wants them with a fruit and coconut twist and a sweet vanilla-and-tonka finish. Other fougère pages in the range are the ones to compare, looking at which start with citrus and which, like this one, start with fruit.
